The new features of L4D2:
1) 5 campaigns, all that start with versus mode unlocked (+ survival mode and the scavenger mode)
2) 3 New Special Infected (Charger - runs through the group knocking players away, Spitter - Splits nasty goo that sticks to the ground, hurting they players while they stand there, Jockey - Grabs onto the back of a human and steers him/her away from the other players and into other zombies or into traps)
3) Lots of new weapons (melee weapons, silenced machine guns, incendiary ammo that sets zombies on fire when you shoot them, rifles, shotguns)
4) Dynamic levels - Parts of levels change each time you play them... for example, there is a graveyard with crypts, and the maze through the crypt will be random. It will be different every time... it may be a straight line, or a long twisting path...
5) You can move while you use the medkit! You can't fight or anything, but you can walk while you are patching yourself up
6) Uncommon Infected - So besides the regular zombies and the special infected, there are "uncommon infected". For example, a cop in riot gear or a guy in a hazmat suit. Their gear makes them extra strong. You can't hurt them from the front, you have to shoot them in the side or the back.
7) Daytime levels - Some of the levels take place during the day, with the witch wandering around instead of sitting.
8) Amazing graphics - The zombies fall apart in disgusting ways. You can shoot holes through them and chunks of flesh get torn off. It's gross. Plus there is a swamp level and it's TERRIFYING.
9) Gauntlets - So in the first one there were either times where you explore the level or horde events, where you have to wait for a door to open or for the vehicle to come. But there is a third kind of event in L4D2. These are gauntlet areas, where the hordes won't stop until you get to the end of an area. For example, you walk onto a bridge and it sets off an alarm or something. Then you have to fight the horde all the way across the bridge until the end, where you hit a switch and it stops. You can't just wait it out, you actually have to run across in order to stop it. (in a preview I saw an area with like 15 cars with car alarms... if you set one off, they ALL go off)

Wait... the witch wanders? I think that's the most terrifying thing I've ever heard.
ReplyDeleteI imagine a situation where a wandering witch gets lost in a horde, and you hose the horde with your gun... BAM! You die...
